ALL ABOUT PRECISION CLEANING
WHAT ARE THE CURRENT RECOMMENDATIONS ON PRECISION BRUSHING?
The Precision Brush is a form of a manual toothbrush that is designed plaque removal in hard to reach areas. The single tuft allows accurate brushing in areas that the larger head of an ordinary toothbrush cannot get to. The Precision Brush should be used at least once daily for targeted cleaning of more difficult to reach areas.
The brush should be used with a light pressure. Excessive pressure will cause the bristles to splay excessively, rendering the brush ineffective and reducing the longevity of the brush. Excessive pressure can also cause trauma and damage to the gums.
There is no need to use toothpaste with The Precision Brush.
WHO SHOULD USE THE PRECISION BRUSH?
Most people will benefit from the daily use of The Precision Brush. The Precision Brush is the perfect solution for through cleaning in areas an ordinary toothbrush cannot get to, such as:
DENTAL IMPLANTS
The Precision Brush is advised daily around dental implants, it is the only effective way to clean the surfaces of an implant prostheses. The bristles of an ordinary toothbrush do not get under the prostheses sufficiently, where plaque can build up. The single tuft of The Precision Brush is the perfect design to clean in this area of ‘dead space’.
In our opinion, The Precision Brush provides the only effective way to maintain implant health.
AREAS OF GUM RECESSION
The Precision Brush is useful in areas of gum recession, but care must be taken to use it gently to avoid worsening of the recession. An ordinary toothbrush can miss plaque around corners of teeth that have gum recession around them, such as in patients with periodontal disease.
FURCATION AREAS
Bone loss between the roots of molar teeth are known as furcations. Teeth which have periodontal damage in the furcation area are at serious risk of being lost in the long term. The single tuft design of The Precision Brush allows accurate access and precise cleaning in furcation areas, thereby improving the periodontal outcomes of these teeth.
HARD TO REACH AREAS
The Precision Brush is recommended once daily for effectively cleaning around the inside surfaces of the teeth. Plaque is commonly missed on the inside surfaces of the teeth because it is not possible to directly see where the toothbrush is working. The single tuft of The Precision Brush provides a much more effective alternative to clean in these areas.
The Precision Brush is the only brush that will clean behind the last teeth and around areas of missing teeth or large spaces where the largest interdental brush is not a snug fit.
The Precision Brush is the perfect tool to clean the top of wisdom teeth, especially those that are impacted or partially erupted.
DENTAL APPLIANCES
The Precision Brush was inspired by an interspace brush, which was devised to clean around orthodontic appliances. Daily use of The Precision Brush is key for effective plaque removal around fixed orthodontic appliances i.e. braces.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER USE OF THE PRECISION BRUSH?
When used correctly, some bleeding is to be expected with the first few uses of The Precision Brush. There may be profuse bleeding especially if you have gum disease or are on blood thinners, but this is not something to be concerned about. With regular use the bleeding will decrease and should stop.
The Precision Brush should be used with a gentle pressure to prevent damage to the gums. As inflammation settles, there may be some gum recession that is noticeable. This is a sign of the gums getting healthier and the damage caused by periodontal disease becoming apparent.
HOW DO I CARE FOR THE TEETH KEEPER INTERDENTAL BRUSHES?
The Precision Brush should be thoroughly rinsed and stored safely between each use.
The brush insert should be replaced once the bristles start to splay. With the correct technique and pressure, each insert should last approximately 1 month. If a worn brush is used, it will not be effective at plaque removal.
Brush inserts should not be shared between individuals to prevent risk of cross contamination.
