Clinical Case 1 – Achieving Gum Health With a Few Simple Steps

A lovely lady in her mid-50s visited the dentist after a few years of not going as she was experiencing some bleeding gums and a bad taste.

She was referred for management of her gum disease. She presented with moderate periodontitis affecting most of the mouth. She used a manual brush twice daily and occasionally flossed.

The initial presentation shows a large build-up of plaque across the mouth, inflamed gums, and bone loss of up to 50% at the most severe sites.

The lady was shown how to start cleaning the plaque off her teeth effectively with an electric brush and appropriately sized, tight-fitting interdental brushes. Profuse bleeding can be noted after sizing The Interdental Brushes.

A huge improvement in her gum health can be seen when she returned to have professional treatment carried out.

Professional periodontal treatment and a re-check of The Interdental Brush sizes was done. 3 months later her gum health had been restored.
